Film

Yosef is a young refugee trying to make a living in Switzerland. Soon he realises that the only job he can have is delivering food by bike. The days are long, the working conditions are exploitative. Desperately, Yosef takes a bad turn that gets him into trouble with Zürich's most dangerous bicycle couriers. This is a gang of passionate cyclists for whom the work in the saddle represents a purpose and a lifestyle.

Velo Gang is an homage to the biker B-movies from the 1960s. It examines the image we have of nonconformists in today’s gig economy. It not only questions genre conventions but also the way we think about charity, success, and privilege.

A trained typographer from Zürich who turned journalist after studying multimedia production in Bern. He has been devoted to filmmaking for years as an amateur. He has taken on a wide variety of roles and participated in productions of various sizes. Velo Gang is his feature film debut. He wrote, directed and produced the film truly independently. The film shows both his love for genre cinema and his interest in today's society.
